Introduction to 3D Design with Tinkercad

From self-adjusting thermostats to pet feeders that calculate and track your pet's nutritional needs,
the Internet of Things may sound futuristic, but it is quickly becoming reality. In this workshop, we
will explore ways to control basic electronics remotely from a laptop or smartphone. We'll even
learn how to make a Weasley Whereabouts Clock!

If you do not have any prior experience working with Arduino (or basic programming and electronics),
we recommend you attend our Introduction to Arduino workshop first.

Please complete the pre-workshop instructions for software and creating accounts. It will make the
workshop go more smoothly!

  1. Please review this web page to get a sense for the types of projects one can make with
an Internet of Things card: https://hackaday.io/projects?tag=ESP8266
  2. Download and install Arduino IDE software for your laptop: http://bit.ly/2LIKN2A
  3. Go to https://io.adafruit.com and create an account.
  4. Go to https://ifttt.com/ and create an account.
